Thank you to everyone who helped make the Cougars 1st week of XC training and racing safe and productive. We will continue to do daily temperature and warning sign Covid screens by the little gym, with athletes going to our white dot grid directly after. I would like to give a personal shout out to Sorcha for not taking these questions for granted and telling us she had a recent cough and sore throat. As I said at the team meeting last Monday, PE credit will not be dependent on your practice attendance record this season. And answering our covid questions honestly and openly will be an important step in keeping everyone safe and healthy this season. Way to go Sorcha! Attached are 2 excel files. One shows the results of the Skinny Raven time trial we participated in on Friday. Congratulations to Perpetua Hippler for a top 10 posting and figuring out how to upload her gps file onto strava to make it official. Congrats to Nowelle, Zoe and Mina for leading the way for the Lady Cougars. Congratulations to Tate, Elias, Aaron Power, and Joel for posting top 10 times. Congrats to Zander for winning the hilly 2.04mi course with a 10:44 effort despite encountering some gps issues. The Speed groups file is our first draft of the Cougar 2020 speed groups we will break into this week when we do interval and hill repeat workouts. Check out the file to figure out which group you're in. Boys Varsity - Banana Peppers Girls Varsity and Boys JV - Ghost Peppers Girls JV and Boys - Chipotle Girls and Boys Open - the world's hottest pepper, Carolina Reaper! We will be sorting into speed groups on Monday so please take a look. These are based on the time-trial results or my best guess for where you belong if you missed the time trial. I'm happy to announce that Max Romey, a 2012 Cougar graduate, will be Service's new assistant coach starting on Monday. We now have a full coaching staff to take on the 2020 season challenges! Next week we will -be voting for captains -start hill repeat and interval sessions in speed groups -possibly be competing in an ASD-wide team time trial event on Wednesday -doing a group bonding Scavenger Hunt -possibly trying to pull off an outdoor spaghetti feed by the little gym -possibly be adding a 2nd practice from 5-6:45pm after the 2:30-4:15pm practice, (depends on how many athletes show up to practice) Make sure you are getting our text messages by doing the following: Signing up on Remind for news flashes Parents send the text message "@servicexc" to 81010 Athletes send the message "@xc20shs" to 81010 Remember, - everyone is to stay 10 feet away from everyone else and be wearing a mask when on the practice field.
