Congratulations to Joey Aist, Madeline Maurer, Fintan Nakada, and Hillary Tschappat, your 2016 captains. Their first directive: Saturday is a meet, so please dress up for school tomorrow - no jeans! PARENTS: WE NEED SNACKS FOR SATURDAY, 8/27. This week's meet is the Bartlett Invitational State Preview Meet at Bartlett High School. If you haven't been there before, the cross-country trails are to the left of the school near the baseball field, so go straight ahead to the parking lot in the back. It is not uncommon to have other events happening at the same time at Bartlett, so be aware parking might be a challenge. Also take into account the road construction at Muldoon may delay your arrival at the meet, so give yourself time to get there. The race begins at 10 am. Please sign up to bring food on Saturday for the athletes. SPAGHETTI FEED THIS FRIDAY, 8/26 FROM 6 PM TO 8 PM. Thank you very much to the Guyer family for hosting this week! You'll find them at 4251 Birch Run Drive. Parent Hosts: Scott and Lori Guyer, 907-223-9420, Juniors, please bring dessert. ALL WEEK:

In addition to your uniform and racing shoes, bring personal snacks, a water bottle, some spending money for snacks at Fred Meyer in Soldotna, and things that will make the bus ride comfortable, i.e. headphones, portable charger for your phone or ipod, blanket, and travel pillow.
PARENTS: Send team snacks with your student in the morning to the bus. The meet is held at Skyview High School and the race begins at 12:00 pm for parents who are traveling down to cheer. Arrival back in Anchorage is dependent on the day and highway traffic, but typically between 7pm and 8:30pm. They should call or text you from around Potter's Marsh, and I'll send an update as soon as I have a good idea. A big thanks to the Hancock family for hosting tonight's spaghetti feed, and good luck to all the runners tomorrow! “When you put yourself on the line in a race and expose yourself to the unknown, you learn things about yourself that are very exciting.” - Doris Brown Heritage, five-time World Cross-Country Champion The weather was less than accommodating, and the snacks and coolers were a hit! Cheering people along the course were also greatly appreciated, and of course the transport of the tents and tables to get out of the rain. THANK YOU!!!
